Smoothies


Anyone can prepare smoothies. It takes just minutes to blend one. All you need is a knife, blender and fresh fruit.  Some recipes also call for fresh juice.  If possible, make the juice yourself. Adults and children alike will love these delicious recipes at your next party!  The next time you or your children have guests over, pour smoothies into stemmed glasses (there are inexpensive plastic glasses available for the kids and for outdoor use), and add colorful straws and pieces of fruit for a special touch. The kids will think the drinks are really special, and the adults will, too! 

Try one of these recipes listed here, or experiment with one of your own. Remember that you can always substitute an ingredient or two. Try different combinations of fruits.  The possibilities are endless!

 


 

 

Blueberry, Papaya, Peach Smoothie

  1 cup fresh apple juice

  1 papaya, peeled and seeded

  2 peaches, peeled and pitted

  1 cup blueberries, washed

 

Blend apple juice, papaya, peaches, and blueberries in a blender until smooth and creamy. Drink immediately.

Honeydew Smoothie

  1 whole or  1/2 honeydew, peeled, seeded and cubed

 

Blend cubed honeydew pieces in a blender until smooth. Drink immediately. Add ice cubes if desired.

Mango, Blueberry Smoothie 

  1 cup fresh apple juice

  1 mango, peeled, cubed or squeezed with hand into blender

  1 fresh or frozen banana

  1 cup fresh blueberries

 

Blend apple juice, mango, banana, and blueberries in a blender until smooth and creamy. Drink immediately.

Mango, Orange Smoothie

  1 cup fresh orange juice

  3 cups mango,  peeled

  1 banana
 

Blend orange juice, mango, and banana in a blender until smooth and creamy. Drink immediately.

Orange, Pineapple, Banana Smoothie

  6 oz. freshly squeezed orange juice

  1 cup fresh pineapple, peeled, cored and sliced in strips or chunks

  1 fresh or frozen banana

 

Blend orange juice, pineapple, and banana in a blender until smooth and creamy. Drink immediately.

Papaya, Peach Smoothie

  1 cup fresh apple juice

  1 papaya, peeled and seeded

  2 peaches, peeled and pitted

Peach Smoothie

  1 cup fresh apple juice

  1 fresh or frozen banana

  1 peach, peeled, pitted and quartered

 

Blend apple juice, banana, and peach in a blender until smooth and creamy. Drink immediately.

Pineapple, Strawberry Smoothie

  1/2 pineapple, peeled, cored and cubed

  1 fresh or frozen banana

  1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

  1 cup sliced fresh strawberries

 

Blend pineapple, banana, orange juice, and strawberries in a blender until smooth and creamy. Drink immediately.
