Just Thinking.  Yesterday, Just Thinking About Thinking.

And what does thinking have to do with HEALTH?

What do you think that thinking has to do with health?   How does your thinking affect your health?

I am concerned about the health of our country and our world.   I am certain that the NHA has a huge job to do on this planet.   Yes there are all sorts of environmental groups out there, but do they really get it?  Do they get that health promotion is much more than disease prevention?  Is what is true for each of us individually also true for the planet?

While running on the beach this morning my thoughts reflected on the nature of love and what it means when some says "I LOVE YOU".  I wondered how someone could love another person and not support a healthy lifestyle.  I wondered if love means supporting another to be stronger than their addictions.

Welcome to the New Year and our New Web Site.  Let's make 2007 a healthy, happy and successful year for all of us and the NHA!

It is traditional to wish others a happy and healthy new year at this time of the year.   But I am wondering if it makes a difference whether the healthy or the happy comes first.  I used to think that it was the healthy part that came first.  How could one be happy if not healthy?   But now I realize that some people are happy and unhealthy.

Did you know that there are about 70,000 cases of e.coli related disease in the United States every year? That is about 200 per day......mostly related to ground beef and chicken.....so why the uproar over the spinach? Could the media be biased? Could the animal agribusiness be so powerful? Yes, and yes! Clearly some poluted water (probably from animal waste upstream or upriver) got on some of the spinach. But look at the response...Clearly e.coli attacks humans every day.....and there is no uproar unless a vegetable is involved......hmmmm

Welcome to the blog. I want to start it off with a question.....Have you eaten your spinach today? Or for that matter, when did you last eat spinach? Did you eat spinach before the e.coli scare? Do you plan to start again? When? Do you believe that spinach is dangerous food, just right for micro organismic attack? This is a great wake up call for all of us that really want to see health reform. Are we really surprised that the FDA is looking in the the wrong place at the wrong thing? Remember the last vegetable that was attacked by e.coli? Alfalfa sprouts! Did we learn anything from that event? Seems like we did not! There is so much food in every supermarket that is so unhealthy, so how is it that it is spinach that gets the bad rap? Millions of pounds of spinach and less than 100 cases of e.coli poisoning......Why so few? That is what I am wondering about.......How could there have been this big contamination and less than 100 people got sick. hmmmm....Were there just so few bags tainted or did almost everyone wash their green before eating????
