The NHA believes that health results from healthful living.

To be healthy, we need to live healthfully every day—develop a positive attitude towards life; eat fresh, whole natural foods; exercise regularly; get plenty of rest and sleep; get plenty of fresh air and sunshine; learn to handle stress; and avoid all of the negative influences of life.

    The NHA believes that the use of these products to generally be contrary to healthy living.

    Exercise

    The NHA emphasizes the importance of exercise as a part of at total healthful lifestyle.

    A regular, well thought—out exercise program will help ensure that you maintain strength and flexibility throughout your life and, more importantly, will provide many lasting health benefits.

    Since every individual is different, exercise programs should be tailored to meet individual needs. The cornerstone of most programs will be aerobic exercise, but some people may need to focus on other exercises, such as strength training, weight lifting or stretching.

    Start with an activity that you enjoy. Walking, jogging, running, cycling, rowing, cross-country skiing, dancing, jumping rope and climbing stairs are all non-stop, rhythmic activities that you can do on a daily basis that will get your heart rate up and keep it there.

    Natural Childbirth

    The NHA believes that childbirth is a natural process and that in most cases medical intervention is unnecessary. Proper nutrition can reduce the complications that would necessitate medical intervention.

    Key to a healthy birth is preparation. This includes the parents' lifestyle. Diet, exercise, and mental attitude play a crucial role in preparation for birth.

    Natural birth classes such as Bradley Childbirth Education classes are also very useful and recommended.

    The NHA encourages potential parents to carefully interview midwives and obstetricians before choosing who will attend the birth of their child.

    It has often been said that our children are our greatest resource.

    The NHA vigorously supports parents and caregivers to raise their children in the most natural ways.
